Those who did not know Elizabeth “Lizzy” Oranges may recognize her from the lauded documentary Kings Park: Stories from an American Mental Institution. A psychiatric system survivor, Lizzy was featured prominently in the film and spoke of her experience along with award-winning filmmaker Lucy Winer. HALI was honored to partner with Lucy to organize a fundraising effort to bury and memorialize Lizzy with the dignity and love she deserved. Lizzy was also a past participant in HALI services and is remembered fondly by our community. We thank everyone who contributed to this effort.
